A list of Some Appropriate Prepositions

Parallel to (সমান)—This road is parallel to that.


Part from (a person),
with (a thing) (
বিদায় নেয়া)—He parted from his friend. She parted
with 
the ring.


Partial to (পক্ষপাতী) —He is partial to his son.


Partiality for (পক্ষপাতী) —He has no Partiality for his
son.


Pass away (মারা যাওয়া)—He passed away last
night.


Persist in (লেগে থাকা)—He persisted in
disturbing me.


Penalty for- অপরাধের কারনে শাস্তি; ধরে অর্থে with- He has paid the penalty for his crime
with five years in prison.


Pity for (করুণা)—Have pity for the poor.






Play on (বাজানো)—He played on guitar.

Rest with, upon (নির্ভর করা) —The whole matter rests upon you. I rest upon your
promise.


Restore to ( জমা করা) —Restore his property to him.


Restrict to (সীমাবদ্ধ)-Admission was restricted to students.


Retire from, on (অবসর নেয়া)- He retired from service on a pension.


Rich in (সমৃদ্ধ)-Bihar is rich in minerals.


Rid of (মুক্তি পাওয়া) —Get rid of bad company.


Rob of (ডাকাতি করা) —Somebody robbed him of his purse.

Sanguine of (আশাবাদী) —She is sanguine of her success.


Satisfied with, of (সন্তুষ্ট) —I am satisfied with him. I
am satisfied of
the truth.


Satisfaction in, with (সন্তুষ্ট) —1 find satisfaction in gardening. Great
was his satisfaction with her result.


Search for (অনুসন্ধান) —Their search for the thing was of no
avail.


(In) search of (অনুসন্ধানে) —They are in search of a nice bird.


Sensible of (সতর্ক)-She is sensible of the risk.


Sensitive to (সতর্ক)-She is sensitive to cold.


Sentence to, for (সতর্ক) —He was sentenced to death for murder.


Senior to (বড়) —He is senior to me by four years. I am
senior to him in service.


Send for (ডেকে পাঠানো) —Send for a doctor immediately.


Sick of, for (অসুস্থ) —I am sick of  fever. I am sick
of
 this idle life. He is sick for home.


Similar to (একই) —This pen is similar to that.


Sink in (mud), into (the
sea, river etc.) (
নিমজ্জিত) — He sank in mud. The ship sank

 the sea.


Slow of (speech), at
(figures), in (doing something)(
ধীর) — He is slow of speech. He is slow at figures. He is
slow in writing.


Smell of (ঘ্রান লওয়া) —This glass smells of wine.


Smile on (হাসানো) — Fortune smiled on him.


Stare at (এক পলোকে তাকানো) — She stared at me.


Stick to (লেগে থাকা) — He sticks to his decision.


Subject to (অধীন) —This is subject to approval of the
committee.


Succeed in (জয়ী হওয়া) —He will succeed in life.


Suffer from (ভোগা) —He is suffering from fever.


Superior to (উন্নত) —This type of rice is superior to that.


Supply (a person)with(a
thing), ) — (
সরবরাহ করা) He supplied us with food.


Supply to( a person)-( সরবরাহ করা) —He supplied food to us.


Sure of (নিশ্চিত) —I am sure of success.


Sympathy for (সহানুভূতি) — I have no sympathy for him.
